The wheels fell off this blog a little bit. If you read along then you will know that sometime last year we moved into a house with a garden – actual dirt in the ground garden. I was beyond excited and began planning my new plot. And then the bureaucracy turned up.
Switzerland is a funny old place, and because of some archaic laws, we (and the other people who live on our plot) have been frozen out of finishing the gardens because of a boundary issue. We’ve petitioned the locals, asked nicely and played ball, and are now in the midst of some tribunal that I don’t really understand fully. Needless to say, my wife and I have hit a wall and decided, regardless of whether we can have a fenced-in plot, we want to grow and we darn well will!
With that in mind, I’m restarting the blog in the hope that it will help push me through the arguments ahead. I’m more than aware that it’s a first world problem, and that I am very lucky to have what I have, but we have been here for 8 months now and have been unable to do much with space. That changes now… 2018 is the year of the garden (at least in my eyes), and legal wrangling aside, it’s about to get dirty!
